As a Physical Therapist, my passion is Movement. Healthy, vital people move and there is a bottom up effect where the quality of bodily motion affects the mind in a positive or negative way.
A body moving with ease imprints positive feedback to the brain, while a body moving in pain affects the brain with negative perceptions so a feedback loop of pain and suffering is established and perpetuated. “Motion is Lotion to the Joints”, so the philosophy of WOW is “just move!”
The human body is perhaps nature’s greatest movement machine, where 208 bones are moved by 650 skeletal muscles, making the human body agile and strong. “Use it or Lose it” defines the human body with respect to flexibility and muscular strength. Disuse, poor posture, sedentary lifestyle and weight gain directly affect the quality of Movement and can therefore be seen as the direct cause of all ailments prevalent in society today.
WOW presents a “Movement as Medicine” video series of simple, gentle remedial movement patterns to include joint and spinal flexibility and functional movement patterns, also incorporating breath work for people with Osteoarthritis, Diabetes, Chronic Pain and Parkinson’s disease
